Precautions for Post-Myopia Operation
① Please confirm the following: Reservation for the next day checkup, Doctor’s prescriptions,
and precautions for post-operation.
② During the first week of post-operation, you must have a eye checkup once everyday.
Also, you must visit eye Doctor on the 2nd week, 4th week, 8th week, and 12th week.
After this period, you must receive your eye checkup once every 6 months,
even if you don’t have any abnormal symptoms, for the rest of your life.
Whenever you have any uncomfortable symptoms, you should get a checkup even before
the date of your reservation.
Protection for Your Eye After Operation:
① For the period of 4 weeks after surgical operation of your eye, you should not touch
or rub your eye (that has undergone surgery) with your hands.
Always wear a plastic eye-cover or an eye glass with no power (ultraviolet light shielding,
reflection prevention coating, green color 625nm lens etc.)
(do not casually violate even one second).
If you wear a powerless glass, it is possible to see and convenient to put eye drops.
You should be extremely careful not to hurt your eye by eye-glass legs whenever you put
or remove your eye glass.
③ For the period of 4 weeks after eye operation, you must always put on the plastic eye-cover
provided by the eye clinic when you sleep.
④ For 3 days after surgical operation, you should be very careful so that no water can get into
your eye. From 4th day after operation, you may wash your hair or take a shower but never rub your eye.
⑤ From 2 weeks after eye operation, you may make up around your eye lightly touching,
you can do swimming (after 8 weeks if you wear a goggle), and you may drive a car.
⑥ Your congested red-eye will disappear after about 7~14 days and therefore no special
treatment will be needed.
⑦ About 12 weeks after your eye operation, your final eyesight can be evaluated via eyesight checkup.
When it is necessary, an additional operation or an adjustment with a proper eye glass or a contact lens can be made.
⑧ Please do not rub around your eye and do not get any massage around your eye for the rest of your life.
Allowable Range of Your Activities:
① From the first day of your eye operation, you may do the following: reading and computer work
at your desk, watching T.V., light walking, and some office work.
② 4 weeks after your eye operation, you can do any heavy physical work or exercise without any limit.
③ However, if you want to do some special activities, please consult with your doctor.
Precautions for Washing Your Face:
① For the period of 14 days after eye operation, the best way is not to wash your face and not to wipe
around your eyes so that you would never have to rub your eye. In case you have to wipe out around the
surgically operated eye, use your finger or wet towel so that no force can reach the eyeball and lightly
wipe sideways as a cat washes her face.
② 14 days after your eye operation, you may wash your face lightly with extreme care so that no force can reach your eyeball.
③ 4 weeks after your eye operation, you may lightly wash your face.
Precautions for Wiping Tears or Removing Mucous from the Eye:
① Wash your hands cleanly before wiping.
② Use cotton wetted with clean water or paper tissue.
③ Close your eyes first, and lightly wipe sideways from your nose to your ear following eyelashes of
your lower eyelid 2~3 times repeatedly. While you do this you should be extremely careful not to touch
your eyeball or upper eyelid.
Precautions for Putting Eye Drops:
① If you are putting eye drops while you are wearing the plastic eye protection cover, put eye drops
through the center hole of the eye cover leaning your head backward (or while you lie on the bed).
② When you are not wearing eye-patch (or cover), put your head backward (or lie down on your bed) and
pull your lower eyelid with your hand so that your eyeball can be detached from the eyelid (at the same time, extremely be careful not to touch your upper eyelid !), put eye drops to fall directly into your eye (at this time, make sure to keep enough distance between the bottle of eye drops and your eyelid so that the tip of the bottle does not touch your eyelid) while looking at the tip of the eye drops bottle and blink your eye 2~3 times.
③ When you are putting more than two different eye drops, give about 5 minutes interval to put eye drops
one after another.
④ Store your eye drops at a cooler place. Then it will become more easier to confirm whether the eye drops has properly been fallen into your eye.
